Adobe Premier Pro Questions

I am not a pro editor, although I have been in just about anytype of post suite there is and understand what can be done. I have adobe premier to cut my own demo reels as a director/dp to send out on dvd. Most post suites are too busy to do what I need done and on a regular basis, so I thought I could do it myself considering I am just cutting :30 and :60 second spots together for review. So creative in the edit suite is fairly easy for me but technically is a problem. So I have a few questions maybe someone can help me with?
At the post house I had them make me a few dvd's with my spots on them. Now i put them in my dvd player and cannot import them into premier 1.5 ok, so I get a program that will rip them into AVI or Mpeg 1 or 2 and now I have my demos in Premier.
next I cut the spots up to make a demo to send out. looks ok, plays ok. lets burn to dvd. its a 6 minute demo and I have a error of not enough memory. Seems strange I played with adobe premier about 4 years ago and only had 32 meg of ram but no dvd, anyway I can put the demo into encore which I have but I cannot burn it? So I try and burn 1 :60 spot to see how it will look? Out Of MEMORY I dont understand why?
I have a ASUS P4G800-E Delux board, 1 gig of memory, 2 x 200 gig drives on raid for photoshop and premier, 2 x 80 gig drives, 3.2 system, capture card and duel monitor video card. I have the background turned off, 200 gig for scratch disk. any ideas?
